I Beam

Wood I-beams, also known as engineered I-joists, are structural members designed to provide strong, lightweight support for floors and roofs. They consist of a top and bottom flange—usually made from laminated veneer lumber (LVL) or solid wood—connected by a vertical web made of oriented strand board (OSB) or plywood. This I-shaped design offers excellent strength-to-weight efficiency, resists warping and shrinking, and allows for longer spans than traditional solid lumber, making them a popular choice in modern construction.
